Between 1957 and 1959, Christa Bauer studied at the Cologne Werkschulen under Professor Elisabeth Treskow, a leading figure in 20th-century German goldsmithing. The Kölner Werkschulen was a university and school for Fine Arts, Architecture, and Design that operated in Cologne from 1926 to 1971. Bauer then worked in Treskow’s workshop for four years before opening her own studio in Cologne in 1963. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Germany and internationally.
