A member of the French Academy of Fine Arts since 1990, Ilias Lalaounis was a celebrated Greek jeweler and goldsmith, born in 1920 and deceased in 2013.
He is best known for founding the eponymous jewellery brand, Lalaounis, which has become a benchmark for jewellery in Greece and internationally.
Ilias Lalaounis gained particular renown for his creations inspired by ancient Greek history.
