A member of the French Academy of Fine Arts since 1990, Ilias Lalaounis was a celebrated Greek jeweler and goldsmith, born in 1920 and deceased in 2013.
He is best known for founding the eponymous jewellery brand, Lalaounis, which has become a benchmark for jewellery in Greece and internationally.
Ilias Lalaounis gained particular renown for his creations inspired by ancient Greek history. His jewelry was often characterized by classical motifs and elements borrowed from Greek art, mythology and culture. He was renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and his ability to transform historical elements into contemporary, elegant pieces.
